Your customer has agreed to be a part of a testimonial video? That’s great!! Now it’s time to develop some questions to ensure that you get the most out of your filming. But where do you start?

No matter what your industry, it is always good to begin with the basics:

  • What’s your name?
  • How did you learn about XX?
  • What was your experience?

You will then want to get more specific based on your industry and the product/service that you provided. Below are some examples of common industries. Remember, the more questions, the better. You can always edit later:


  • What is your favorite dish on the menu?
  • Do you dine in, or take out?  Why?
  • How would you describe the staff?
  • Describe the typical wait time.
  • How would you describe the food?
  • How would you describe the value for your money?


  • How did you determine that you needed X fixed/upgraded?
  • Can you tell me about the before, during and after?
  • How was the crew (if applicable)?
  • How were the materials?
  • How would you describe the value for your money?
  • What do you think of the finished product?

Hair Studio

  • Describe your experience.
  • Is it easy to book an appointment?
  • What is the wait time like?
  • What is the atmosphere?
  • Describe your stylist.  Do they listen to what you are trying to achieve?  Do they make suggestions?
  • Are you happy with the finished result?


  • If appropriate: why did you need an attorney?
  • Did they answer questions in a way that you can understand?
  • Is it easy to get in touch with your attorney?
  • Did you feel confident in their abilities?
  • Do they communicate with you on a regular basis?


  • If appropriate: what was the reason for your visit?
  • Is it easy to book an appointment?
  • What is the wait time like?
  • What is the atmosphere?
  • Did you feel comfortable asking questions? Were they answered in a way that was easy to understand?
  • If appropriate: what were the results?

Retail Location

  • Why do you shop at XX?
  • Describe your experience.
  • Is the store easy to navigate?
  • What do you commonly buy?
  • Describe the staff.

No matter the industry, always end with:

  • Would you recommend us to your friends?
  • Why (or why not)?
  • Is there anything else that you can add?
  • If applicable, also have the customer show you the item(s) that they purchased, the “after” (the area on their home that was renovated, the new haircut, the straight teeth, etc.), etc.
